Laura Mercier Flawless fusion foundation review

Hey my loves! Its been a while since i’ve done a product review and i thought what better product could there be than the new Laura Mercier flawless fusion foundation that ive had my eyes on for quite some time. Ive seen many influencers put the “15 hour wear claim” to test and it looks very promising.

If you guys didnt know already, over the summer i put a stop to foundation. Mostly because due to breakouts and the feeling of foundation on a hot summer’s day was enough to embrace my bare face. I’ve really been loving the skipping out foundation routine, so the foundation has to be pretty phenomenal to persuade me to start wearing it again!

This foundation claims to provide ” all the wear, all the coverage, without the weight”. It’s high performance wear thats ” sweat, humidity, water and transfer resistant” with a weightless texture that feels like “second skin”. When i came across this i felt like it fit the description of what i need. A second skin feeling so i wouldnt feel weird wearing foundation again but giving me enough full coverage.

My shade

I brought home two testers, one was in the shade Buff and the other Macadamia. After trying buff (the darker shade), it matched perfectly with my forehead but in different lighting it was too dark for the rest of my face. Macademia looked too light when swatched on to the skin however when blended in and after highlighting and contouring it balanced in nicely. So I went ahead and bought Macademia to test how I feel about it, whether it does really feel like second skin and if it lives up to the long lasting claim!

• At 7am i applied the foundation using my all time favourite Morphe M439 and using a beauty blender after. I set my under eye concealer, nose, the area under my nose my forehead and smile lines which are the places i tend to get oily throughout the day. I finished off using my Nyx dewy setting spray

• Throughout the day i felt like i could touch my skin without my skin feeling tacky or any foundation rubbing off and it felt like an invisible smooth layer. It also covered up the redness around my cheeks and nose very well and didnt budge

• I did notice my nose getting oily even after setting with powder but the rest of the face was perfectly intact. 10 hours in and i didnt feel like i needed to take my makeup off. A childish word yes but my skin didnt feel “icky” (thats the only word to describe it😂)

• At the end of the day about 9pm so thats  14 hours of wear i noticed the foundation seperated on my nose and i could see skin peeking through but honestly it wasnt a big deal for me. I was still happy about how it kept my oiliness at bay and how it felt so lightweight! I would never wear foundation for more than 14 hours anyway but i was still pleased with how it held up🙌

Final Verdict

Overall, i think this foundation lives up to its claims and its made me excited to wear foundation again. I didnt feel as if there was a heavy layer on that would transfer everywhere and it was super lightweight. I cant emphasise it enough!. It looked and even felt like soft even supple skin! I think its a great buy and would definitely recommend to grab a couple of samples, see how the shade looks like in natural light, in low light or sun light and give this foundation a go! It might just become a staple in your collection❤

Fenty Beauty

Fenty beauty by Rihanna took the internet by storm. I am a little late on the fenty beauty hype because i wanted to take my time and figure out what i wanted and let the craze die down so i can have a relaxed shopping experience at Harvey Nichols.

Oh boy was i wrong. I really tried being patient waiting to get myself colour matched for the foundation i’ve been seeing countless good reviews on. Apart from it drying quickly and a slight shade change once applied i havent seen a single bad review, and in the beauty world thats a massive achievement. So sadly i couldnt get the foundation. However, for the past couple of weeks ive stopped wearing foundation and after applying primer i go straight in to highlight and contour and i really love how it looks so overall im glad i got the match stixs!

Before we get into the review, can we talk about the packaging. Its different and edgy and i love the soft pink that contrasts it all ( which sort of reminds me of KKW beauty) The idea of having magnetic sticks is genius and something i havent seen before. Its practical as i dont have to worry about losing any of them. The packaging for the gloss is so luxurious, i love the hexagonal shape and how its distinct from the rest. Clearly a huge amount of effort has gone into this and it mirrors Rihanna’s personality beautifully, as being edgy and feminine and perfect really😩

This is how i contour and highlight on an every day basis with no foundation. Since i had no patience whatsoever to get myself colour matched for these (typical me), i took it upon myself to find the perfect shades. AND ITS SPOT ON! I needed a contour shade that wasnt too ashy/neutral or dark and a highlight that was brightening. Im not too keen on stick highlights as i’ve had some experiences with some being harsh and dragging my under eye. These are super creamy, i didnt feel as if it was pulling my skin and its very very easy to blend which i was so happy about. French Vanilla is a perfect under eye highlight.

When compared to the NYX wonder stick in medium; the contour stick ive been using for years, Cocoa is a lot warmer and intense and needs more work blending out. I use a real techniques stippling brush which is more than enough for the Nyx contour but with cocoa i have to use a beauty blender to buff it out. Ive become so used to the subtleness of the Nyx contour stick that cocoa makes me look like a bronzed sculpted goddess and im kind of living for it. I might prefer this over the NYX!

I do love the warm intensity of it but i wish the stick itself had a more pointer edge to create a precise line like the NYX wonder stick. It just makes life a little easier and instead of the contour looking thick it looks sharp, sculpted and clean.

The Gloss bomb

How luxurious and yummy does it look im obsessed. I havent worn gloss since i was about 12 so i was curious to see myself wearing gloss again.  It has a fruity smell which i dont really appreciate as  i prefer non scented makeup but that was the only thing i didnt like. It retails for £16, its a high end gloss and i guarantee you could easily find a drugstore gloss with a rosy finish. It didnt feel sticky and awkward on my lips throughout the day and it has a gorgeous shine which got me quite a few compliments!

All about Elf Cosmetics!

Elf Cosmetics has finally launched in the UK, and its about time. I know im probably the last person reviewing them, i know😩 BUT i made a trip to the local Superdrug back in May and now its August… But hey at least i took some time reviewing it😂

Ive heard all about Elf from American youtubers raving about their products and how its such good quality for an affordable price. They’ve been praised as, ” Quality cosmetics at affordable prices” and “quality skincare selling products largely at $1, $3 and $6 price points”. Fun fact alert: ELF stands for Eyes, lips and Face, and not the Elf movie, oh well😂😩  But ive heard so many good things about their primers and face products so thats what i dived into!

There was SO much to choose from, so many primers, foundations, concealers and a whole ton of different types of powders for skin types. To be honest, after the horror ive had with the NYX setting powder for not doing anything and making me look ashy,  (i’ll link it here so you can see), i’m a little skeptical of drugstore powders. They looked incredible but i’ll have to do my research first and then have a go. I must have spent an hour deciding on what to get. Finally, i chose the primer that would suit me best and a cute little brush and bronzer kit to start with.

snapchat-1677353503.jpg

  • Elf Mineral Infused Face Primer – Out of all the face primers catering for redness and correcting bloctchy skin, sensitive skin, uneven skin and for brightening, i felt this one would work best for me because it claims to “combat against excess oil, flaky dryness, enlarged pores and fine lines…. so makeup goes on evenly for a long lasting finish”.
  •  I first used this on a very hot day it must have been about 26 degrees. It was boiling. The primer comes out of a pump so 10 points for that, i hate fiddling around. It felt quite thick and siliconey (if that makes sense) a bit lighter feeling than the Benefit porefessional but heavier than the Loreal Infallible Primer. I got a bit put off as it was so hot and i wasnt keen in a thick primer. Once rubbed in however and fanned down a bit, it melted into the skin. AND MY NOSE LET ME TELL YOU. The pores were gone.  It really covered the giant craters on my nose. The grand canyon was gone!
  • Throughout the day, i made notes on how my makeup looked because as a reminder i bought this in may. The foundation applied smoothly as it claimed to and throughout the day i really stared closely in my mirror. With powder on top to set it of course, it did a pretty good job. My makeup stayed put. At the end of the day, i did notice the sides of my nose spread out to my cheeks getting a little oily but it wasnt a huge deal for me. I must have used this about 10 times and overall im quite pleased with it. I tend to reach for this rather then my porefessional so thats saying something!
  •  My sister who doesnt know much about makeup thought the primer cost, in her words “Like £50” because it looks expensive. Little does she know that this baby cost me ONLY £7.50. *Mic drop*. I think shes right to think it looks expensive because look at that packaging, the frosted glass that oh so reminds me of the Marc Jacobs coconut primer. Its beautiful.
  • Finally i give this primer a good 9/10, my only concern is that i wish it was a lot lighter feeling but overall, its a great buy

  • Elf contouring Blush and Bronzing powder in Fiji – Again, there was a lot to choose from and i definitly will be diving into their contour kits, their highlighters, blush palettes and eyeshadow palettes. This little duo appealed to me the most, i really like the colours its in my lovely little comfort zone
  • It claims to create, “a healthy and natural glow… for a pop of colour and contour for a beautiful definition”
  • Lets talk about the price first. Its a fiver. Its only £5.00! I cant say enough how pleased i am with this kit. I really love blush, i would always choose blush over contour any day
  • The blush is exceptionally lovely its a fresh pop of colour, a gorgeous light pink. I use the bronzer mostly for a quick powder nose contour. Its not a warm sun kissed like bronzer, it actually works beautifully for a subtle nose contour which is strange but it does the job!
  • I dont always wear foundation, we have those days when theres just no time. So, i stick some concealer under my eyes and i use this kit for the no make up make up look and its perfect. You cant really tell i have blush on or a bit of bronzer, it really is a staple makeup product for me now and doesnt the packaging look like NARS!

Overall, its top quality, great makeup that doesnt break the bank. Love it love it love it. I will be diving into more products from ELF and i really recommend to try them out. It wont dissapoint!.

That concludes my review, see you in my next post!
